Ingrid Capacity, the Nordic BESS leader, and Mirova, an affiliate of Natixis Investment Managers dedicated to sustainable investment, announce a cross-border partnership of two BESS projects totalling 145 MW/290 MWh in Sweden and Finland. Ingrid Capacity will develop, operate and optimise both systems. The partnership is a clear example of how established European players come together to deploy the future energy infrastructure, and a joint investment in European competitiveness and energy resilience.
In its first BESS partnership in the Nordics, Mirova, a global pioneer in sustainable finance, invests €65 million in two of Ingrid’s large-scale storage systems:
As the vertically integrated BESS-specialist, Ingrid Capacity will develop, operate and optimise both systems. Ingrid will provide technical and commercial asset management, EPC management and optimisation services, while continuing to develop the Vaggeryd project until it reaches ready-to-build status. With the partnership, Ingrid Capacity now adds 145MW/290MWh to its portfolio of assets in construction or operations. With these two assets, Ingrid will have 950MWh of assets under management.
“We are pleased to be Mirova’s first BESS partner in the Nordics. Strong partnerships are essential when creating value for the long term and our two institutions share the same sense of responsibility in doing so. Both companies understand the critical role for BESS in building a better grid and European resilience. Our mission is to build Europe’s leading integrated flexibility platform. Trusted partners like Mirova are key to that growth journey.” says Axel Holmberg, CEO of Ingrid.
“Battery storage is becoming a critical component of Europe’s energy infrastructure, enhancing grid flexibility, supporting renewable integration and strengthening security of supply. This initial portfolio is underpinned by attractive market fundamentals and a resilient risk-return profile, including an offtake agreement for the Pedersöre project. We look forward to scaling the platform and supporting the development of more resilient energy systems across the Nordic region.” says Antoine Blayau, Investment Director at Mirova.
This cross-border partnership combines Ingrid Capacity’s expertise in developing and operating battery storage projects and deliver market-leading assets to investors with Mirova’s experience financing energy transition infrastructure across Europe, with a strong track record as an investor in Swedish energy infrastructure. Together, the two companies aim to support the deployment of BESS capacity that can contribute to a more resilient and flexible Nordic energy system.
