Ingrid Capacity is proud to announce the appointment of Amanda Niklaus as Global Head of Markets. With more than a decade of experience in the European energy sector—most recently at Swiss utility BKW and the energy software company Pexapark—Amanda brings deep expertise in power markets, trading strategies for renewables, market expansion, and strategic deal-making. Her experience spans the full energy value chain, with a strong track record in Germany and broader European markets, as well as international experience from Australia and the U.S.
Amanda will lead the strategic expansion of Ingrid’s commercial offering, bringing intelligent and innovative energy solutions to new types of partners and off-takers.
“Amanda’s appointment is a major step forward for Ingrid Capacity. As we move into new markets and revenue streams, her experience and leadership will be invaluable. She’ll be building on a strong foundation—both in terms of our growing asset base and our in-house optimization capabilities. This is not just a hire—it’s a signal of our ambition and our commitment to shaping the energy system of tomorrow with a world-class team.”
says Axel Holmberg, CEO of Ingrid Capacity.
Amanda’s appointment supports Ingrid’s broader strategy to scale beyond system-critical services for TSOs and electricity arbitrage. By leveraging our unique ability to integrate physical infrastructure, predictive software, and innovative commercial contracts, we’re able to deliver tailored, intelligent solutions for capacity and flexibility offtake. This marks an important step toward enabling the energy system of tomorrow —one that will require new types of contracting for both power and capacity. With these offerings, Ingrid Capacity strengthens its commitment to building long-term partnerships with a wide range of stakeholders, from investors and utilities to industrial off-takers across the energy market.
"I’m thrilled to be joining Ingrid at such an exciting time. I’m deeply impressed by Ingrid’s momentum and track record and inspired by the team’s clarity of purpose. With Ingrid uniquely positioned as a leader in both physical assets and software, we’re able to unlock powerful synergies—creating attractive commercial set-ups with partners and off-takers. I’m excited to accelerate our market presence and expand our commercial offerings across Europe. Starting in Germany and the Nordics, we will transform this relatively young asset class into valuable and scalable revenue streams."
says Amanda Niklaus, new Global Head of Markets at Ingrid Capacity.
Germany is at the heart of Europe’s energy transition, with over 50% of its electricity now coming from renewables and a full nuclear phase-out completed in 2023. As a result, the need for scalable flexibility and system resilience is growing rapidly. Battery storage is expected to play a pivotal role, with Germany’s grid development plan projecting up to 30 GW of installed BESS capacity by 2037. Ingrid’s market entry comes at a crucial time, offering not just frequency control and trading capabilities, but intelligent, partner-focused solutions aligned with Germany’s evolving market structures and industrial energy needs.
“Germany’s energy transition is at a tipping point—what’s needed now is flexible, scalable infrastructure that can support both system reliability and industrial electrification. With Amanda’s appointment, we’re strengthening our ability to deliver commercially viable solutions tailored to the specific needs of grid users—while positioning Ingrid as the go-to partner for capacity and flexibility offtake.”
says Mike Winkel, former CEO of E.ON Climate and Renewables and current core member of Ingrid’s International Advisory Board.
