Ingrid, the leading Nordic flexibility and grid-tech company, has been selected as one of the global partner companies for UNESCO World Engineering Day 2026. Through the "Engineering in Action" platform — organised by the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) in partnership with UNESCO — Ingrid's partner story "Greening the Grid" is featured alongside companies such as Airbus, Dassault Systèmes, Arcadis and Adani Group.
The recognition is awarded under UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 — affordable and clean energy — and highlights how Ingrid combines grid-scale energy storage, advanced optimisation and market intelligence to create the flexibility that existing power grids need as electrification accelerates across Europe.
"Being selected for UNESCO World Engineering Day is an important recognition of what we are building at Ingrid. The energy system is becoming more complex, and our job is to make that complexity invisible — through intelligent infrastructure and software that lets the grid adapt in real time. This recognition reinforces that our approach matters, not just in the Nordics but on a global scale," says Axel Holmberg, CEO at Ingrid.
Ingrid was founded in 2022 and is headquartered in Stockholm. The company has more than 650 MWh of storage in operation or under construction across Sweden and Finland, and over 250 MWh of assets optimised through its proprietary trading and optimisation platform. The company's 70+ employees across 16 nationalities develop and operate solutions spanning grid-scale energy storage, AI-driven optimisation, peak shaving, green energy supply and innovative grid services.Over the past year, Ingrid has entered into strategic partnerships with Energiequelle to deploy battery energy storage systems across Germany, with French developer Wattmen to co-develop 200 MW of BESS in France, and with Varbergs Elnät to deliver AI-optimised peak shaving that can reduce up to 90% of new local grid capacity needs. The company also contributed to a doubling of available flexibility in Effekthandel Väst through its collaboration with Göteborg Energi and Locus Energy.
The World Engineering Day partnership runs throughout 2026. Ingrid's full partner story is available at worldengineeringday.net/partner/ingrid.
